The Graduate School of Neuroscience

Neuroscience is a major and expanding research field in modern Biomedicine. The aim of this field of research is to understand the function of the normal brain; it's diseases and how the operation of the impaired brain can be rectified. The methods used in Neuroscience are drawn from a variety of different disciplines, including anatomy, physiology, molecular biology, computer sciences and clinical science. Horisontal Mulligan Cut
For students entering the field it is therefore necessary to both specialize in a particular discipline but also to become acquainted with other disciplines in order to obtain a full understanding of the often complex scientific problems. The aim of the Graduate School of Neuroscience is to provide an intensive training environment for neurobiology Ph.D. students that takes into account the needs for both the specialization and the broader background knowledge. Providing a broad and solid study program in basic neuroscience in combination with a program adapted to the individual needs will fulfil this aim. The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is especially suited to take on this task because the majority of the neuroscience groups in Denmark are located within the Copenhagen area and are affiliated with the University of Copenhagen. These groups are covering all the above mentioned disciplines.
